An assessment is conducted using the MABC-2, a standardised and formally recognised assessment tool used by paediatricians. The assessment package comprises various components, including pre-assessment questionnaires, a 60-minute assessment session, and a written report with recommendations (taking approximately 3 hours). Additionally, if necessary, there is an option for a telephone or remote feedback session (lasting half an hour) to discuss the report.
Assessed in choice of location
We conduct an assessment using the Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting, a standardised and formal assessment tool. This tool is especially effective in providing evidence for access arrangements for Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Tests and for General Qualifications. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in identifying children with handwriting difficulties and offers pertinent information for planning intervention.
One or Two Locations (Home and/or School)
We conduct formal assessments and clinical observations to actively identify difficulties in sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, visual perception, and self-care. The comprehensive assessment process includes pre-assessment questionnaires, 90–120 minute assessment sessions at each location, and the preparation of a written report with recommendations (taking approximately 3 hours). Additionally, if necessary, there is an option for face-to-face or remote feedback sessions to discuss the report.
- A full paediatric OT assessment or EASI assessment, but the report is written for an Education Health and Care Plan.
- A personalised report formatted in a recognised EHCP style will be provided that local authorities can (should they agree to recommendations) ‘cut and paste’ into your child’s draft plan ready for sign off
A Full EASi (Evaluation of Ayres Sensory Integration) assessment
- Clinical observations to evaluate sensory responses, motor planning, postural control, balance, bilateral coordination, and other relevant factors.
- Home and/or setting questionnaire such as the sensory processing measure (SPM)/ Sensory profile, screening questionnaire and a 120-240 minute assessment session split over two or more appointments.
- Formal written report with specific recommendations and advice
- Telephone or remote feedback to discuss report (1/2 hour) if needed
